New York - Today, the Learning Economy Foundation released a playbook and comic that illustrate how employers and education providers can improve the employment outcomes of students and jobseekers by communicating through data standards.
Adopting globally recognized standards into HR and training applications makes quality careers more inclusive and accessible to a broader segment of the workforce by improving how an individual's education and employment records can be matched to jobs. Open data standards are typically free or low cost to use and enable employer and education systems to speak the same language behind the scenes so they can pair people with opportunities based on skills that indicate what they will be able to do.
A skills-based talent marketplace would open up opportunities for workers and learners without degrees and enable employers to source talent equitably from a larger, more diverse pool of candidates
In “Hire Standards,” the comic, a commission of superheroes staff up by targeting skills and competencies over traditional qualifications in time to save the city from evil forces. The Hire Standards playbook suggests standards implementation ideas for common talent management and career navigation challenges and lists the standards available for use.
Learning Economy is grateful to Walmart’s commitment to standards-enabled innovation. From Sean Murphy, Director at Walmart’s philanthropic efforts, “A skills-based talent marketplace would open up opportunities for workers and learners without degrees and enable employers to source talent equitably from a larger, more diverse pool of candidates.”
